WELCOME TO THE NICHITEANU TRIO
Three internationally acclaimed young soloists with extraordinary individual lives and origins: together they make up the NICHITEANU TRIO.
Andra Heesch and Johannes Raab joined forces in Hamburg – both their artistic home and gateway to the world – to form a chamber ensemble that is internationally diverse, yet united in a singular sound. The ensemble is named after Andra’s father, the violinist Marius Nichiteanu, former principal viola of the NDR Symphony Orchestra and professor at the Musikhochschule Hamburg, who died in 2014.
Even after his passing he continues to be a great role model for the ensemble, both as a personality and teacher but especially as a passionate chamber musician. His charisma served as a bond between the young musicians.
This strong foundation resulted in authentic interpretations of intuitive intensity marked by carefully considered phrasing, as well as to programmes conceived with curiosity and a thirst for discovery, which time and time again have left a strong impression on the trade press. In their masterly interpretations, the musicians combine unmistakable clarity, openness and inspiration, from which decisive influences from teachers such as Mstislav Rostropowitsch Thomas Brandis, Tabea Zimmermann and Bernhard Greenhouse can be heard.
Andra Heesch (née Nichiteanu) is the founder of the Nichiteanu Trio and a sought-after violist at many festivals worldwide (e.g. Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival, Festival Enescu). She plays a viola by Girolamo Brensio built in 1536.
Johannes Raab was born in Leipzig in 1985 and grew up in Hamburg. He studied in Dresden with Konstantin Heidrich and deepened his musical knowledge working with cellists such as Mstislav Rostropowitsch, Boris Pergamentschikow, Miklós Perényi and David Geringas. Before deciding to focus completely on chamber music and solo, he was principal cellist in several German Orchestras. He plays a cello by Carlo Antonio Testore, Milan 1741.
Currently there is no fixed member at the violin. Andra Heesch and Johannes Raab use a certain period of time to work with different exceptional Violinist to gather inspiration by musical personality such as Anton Barakhovsky or Adrian Iliescu.
The Nichiteanu Trio is exclusively represented worldwide by Massa Konzertmanagement Berlin.
